Question and Answer with John
Question and answer
Q.What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A.Inquire about the kind of experience and equipment they use. Make sure they have reviews from Google, Yahoo, or Thumbtack, but also be discerning since anyone can post anything they want on the internet. Instead look at the overall ratings and comments. If you are planning a wedding and do not have a venue, or you are planning a family shoot and do not have a location or are unsure how to dress, etc… don’t be afraid to ask the photographer for suggestions.
Q.Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A.I do other kinds of art in addition to being a photographer… I consider photography to be an artistic endeavor and I think people can see that in my work. Each photography session I do is unique and personal. I more time after the photography session than I do when I am photographing! Developing my own style and striving to get better each time is very important to me. I truly consider it an honor to be chosen amongst so many photographers in the area. Everyone and their brother has a Dslr, so I think as a professional portrait photographer, I have to bring something special to the table each time.
Q.What do you like most about your job?
A.I love sooo many things about my job. I love that it is artistic, since I have always been involved in the arts and have displayed my art in different galleries across the country.
I love meeting and working with people and their families. I feel it is vital to connect with the subject(s) you are photographing and it truly brings me joy to connect and meet new people every day.
I love the many different situations that photography brings me to. I have photographed celebrities, politicians, families, infants, pets, products, etc… and I love how each person and situation is unique. I never get bored and I love bringing new and fresh ideas each time I am behind the camera.
Q.What are your most common types of jobs?
A.The most common types of jobs I am asked to photograph would definitely be family portraits and weddings in the Syracuse and Upstate New York area. I absolutely love photographing both. Both family portraits and Weddings have one thing in common – Love. It is such an honor to be asked to capture the love that a family and/or couple share. For weddings and even family photography, I try to make everyone feel at ease by not being too controlling over every position or move. Instead I like to allow people to be and express who they are naturally.
Q.Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A.I don’t know if I would use the word proud, but I really enjoyed my time with MacKenzie -Childs. They are such interesting people and being a sculptor myself, I love the medium they work with. I also love interior design and their bed and breakfast was such an interesting place to photograph.
